Gel coat

COMPIN Composites use various devices to apply the gel coat from roller to low pressure projection device. All RAL colors are available. Depending on the requirements, we can propose high resistance to UV anti-graffiti solutions.

Matrix

3 types of resins are proposed

• Polyester resins : wide range of resin are available including those which are meeting the M1F1 fire and smokes standards.
• Epoxy resins : offering a very low dimensional sensitivity during unmoulding, they are used for toolings or for parts requiring high strengh and low weight properties.
• Vinyl-Ester resins : showing very good mechanical properties and offer good resistance to tear and wear, high temperature and chemical stability

Reinforcments:

There are 6 mains types of reinforcement :

• Surface mat : reinforcement made up of fine fibre easy to implement applied behind the gel coat to prevent marking or to ease the hand laminate moulding in difficult places,
• Chopped strand mat : for hand laminate moulding
• Roving : fiber glass rolls used for spray up moulding
• Rovicore™* : sandwich material used in closed mould application. The sandwich is made off an unwoven synthetic core strapped between two layers of surface mat.
• Sandwich material : foam, honeycomb, nonwoven material allowing to increase the mechanical properties of the parts without impacting its weight.
• Carbon fiber : for application requiring high mechanical and temperature properties
